چکیده

LiverTransplantMedicalNote(TX-503-mn)Rev E 2013 Introduction Abnormal hepatic hemodynamics and physiology in the transplanted liver pose continuing challenges for the surgeon. A practical method for measuring two of these hemodynamic parameters, portal venous and hepatic arterial flows, is by intraoperative flow measurements. Transit-time ultrasound technology is well suited to measure these flows. Flowprobes are easily applied and do not have to be applied tightly to vessels; they simply encompass the vessel.

The Effect of Intraoperative Restricted Normal Saline during Orthotopic Liver Transplantation on Amount of Administered Sodium Bicarbonate

Background: Severe metabolic acidosis occurs during orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) particularly during the anhepatic phase. Although NaHCO3 is considered as the current standard therapy, there are numerous adverse effects. The aim of this study was to determine whether the restricted use of normal saline during anesthesia could reduce the need for NaHCO3.Methods: In this study we enroll...

Severe Acute Hyperkalemia during Pre-Anhepatic Stage in Cadaveric Orthotopic Liver Transplantation

A serious hazard to patients during orthotopic liver transplantation is hyperkalemia. Although the most frequent and hazardous hyperkalemia occurs immediately after reperfusion of the newly transplanted liver, morbid hyperkalemia could happen in the other phases during orthotopic liver transplantation. However, pre-anhepatic hyperkalemia during orthotopic liver transplantation is rare. This rep...

Intraoperative blood transfusion requirement is the main determinant of early surgical re-intervention after orthotopic liver transplantation.

Liver transplantation is the treatment of choice in selected patients with end-stage liver disease. Postoperative complications often require surgical re-intervention. This study is a retrospective single-centre study to assess the incidence and type of surgical re-intervention during the in-hospital period after liver transplantation and to identify predictors of this re-intervention. From 199...

Postoperative effects of intraoperative hyperglycemia in liver transplant patients.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to determine the effects of intraoperative hyperglycemia on postoperative outcomes in orthotopic liver transplant recipients. MATERIALS AND METHODS After ethics committee approval was obtained, we retrospectively analyzed the records of patients who underwent orthotopic liver transplant from January 2000 to December 2013. A total 389 orthotopic liver trans...

Intraoperative blood transfusions in highly alloimmunized patients undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation.

Intraoperative blood requirements were analyzed in patients undergoing primary orthotopic liver transplantation and divided into two groups on the basis of panel reactive antibody of pretransplant serum measured by lymphocytotoxicity testing. One group of highly sensitized patients (n = 25) had PRA values of over 70% and the second group of patients (n = 26) had 0% PRA values and were considere...
